Through our provision we want to enable children to apply their mathematical knowledge to solve problems, including those with real-life contexts.

Children should leave primary school with an efficient, reliable, compact written method of calculation for each operation; and have developed a range of mental calculations strategies, aided by informal jottings where necessary.

We aim to ensure that our pupils are confident in the fundamentals of mathematics and are able to reason mathematically.

Most importantly, we want our pupils to understand the importance of mathematical skills in everyday life.

In EYFS, children follow the Early Years Outcomes to develop their mathematical skills and understanding. all years are taught with the new mathematics curriculum following the Singapore method of teaching.

We use the Singapore maths scheme within our school, all our staff have undergone training, mentoring and coaching in using this method. This  allows a greater emphasis on reasoning and allows your child to  develop into independent thinkers.

Why did we choose Singapore maths?

We feel that as this was developed in Singapore in English and this offers our school the opportunity to enhance the childrens learning and take your child onto a higher maths level while encouraging your child to be independent and focused on applying their learning.
