Life in Little Acorns
The children in Nursery are looking forward to a great year of learning.
We have a focused session on, Phonics, Mathematics, Reading and Writing.
Through our curriculum we offer opportunities for learning about Understanding the World, Physical Development, Expressive Arts and Design, Communication and Language and Personal, Social, and Emotional Development.
Our PE days are Tuesday. Please ensure your child is wearing suitable shoes for these days e.g. trainers, pumps, school shoes. No boots/ wellington boots.
Please ensure your child has the appropriate clothing for the weather to continue to enjoy learning outside. For the colder weathers children will need hats, scarves and gloves. Wet weathers children will need wellington boots and for warmer weather children will need a sun hat. All of your child's belongings need to be labelled with their names.
At Pinehurst Primary School we aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that provides the children with opportunities to Experience, Excel and Enjoy. We aim to foster a lifelong love of learning, through delivery a twenty first century education. A cross curricular approach to learning encourages the children to be independent, reflective learners and responsible citizens. We work closely with parents to support children’s learning.
The Prime Areas that we will be developing in Nursery are:
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Communication and Language
The Specific Areas in Nursery:
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts & Design
This term our topics include:
Pancake day, World Book day, Mother's Day, the Weather, signs of spring, growth and Easter.
In Little Acorns we like to follow the children's interests. This term we have explored, Pirates (Learning to talk like a pirate, going on treasure hunts, counting treasure, making telescopes, pirate ships etc out of recycled materials.) Fruit and vegetables (Where do they come from? how do they grow? What do they look like inside? What do they taste like?). Babies (sharing our photographs of when we were a baby and how we care for them. Some of us will soon have a new baby brother or sister. We will be ready to help out at home.) Traditional Tales (Reading stories such as, The Three Little Pigs, Golidlocks and the Three Bears and The Gingerbread Man.)
Please see our Curriculum news at the bottom of the page for more information.
It will be a busy and fun filled year of learning.
