Language is all around us. We experience it every day with every human interaction. It is a vital means of communication. It is our aim to provide the children in our care with the opportunity to experience language to the fullest extent and to develop an understanding of how this helps them to communicate and interact with people and the world around them.
The 2014 National Curriculum states that:
‘Learning a foreign language is a liberation from insularity and provides an opening to other cultures. A high-quality languages education should foster pupils’ curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world.’
This underpins our aims for MFL teaching at Pinehurst Primary School.
The children in ks2 receive a 30 min session from Senora Elba each week, with follow up work completed in classes and supported by themed Spanish weeks in school and displays to support Spanish learning learning.
